Hello,
This is really hard for
me to do, but I know that it is for the best.
I am Haunted
Diary. I was the one who created this site, and posted the entries
almost every day. You've all seemed to have guessed by now that this
site was ficticious. You could call it a hoax, and a fraud, but I
prefer to call it an experiment.
Believe me, the last thing
that was on my mind when I initially thought up the idea was
financial gain. I put my hand on my heart when I say that I have not
received a single penny since the opening, operation and leaving of
the Haunted Diary site. The other thing I also wasn't intending to
do was to hurt or damage the paranormal community. I'm a great fan
of all things ghostly, and it was with this knowledge that I tried
to make a convincing ghost story.
So why did I do it. Most
of you have come to the preassumed conclusion that I did this for
attention. Please believe me when I say that this is not the case. I
created this site because I wanted to 'defrock' the phony psychics
who say you've got an evil presence in your house, and then charge
you excessively for the privilage. My grandmother was burned by this
kind of scam back in July of last year and lost over a $1,000
because of it. Money that she has never got back.
Because of
this, I decided to set up a trap. I have read on many discussion
forums of this kind of fraud going on, so I knew they went onto the
internet. The idea then hit me to create a website about someone
moving into a haunted house, and then, although being a skeptic at
the beginning, catalog the events that take place.
I was
hoping that when the events got more sinister (Like after the Ouija
experience) then the phychics would start posting, saying I've got
an evil demon in my house, and for a small fee would come and clense
the house. Because I knew that the site was ficticious, I also knew
that their 'supernatural powers' were also ficticious. I had to keep
the illusion that it was a genuine haunting because otherwise they
would have learned what I was doing and refuse to 'help'. That is
why I couldn't give any details about the location, or about me.
I feel that this experiment has been a success though,
because several people did actually email me (using the email
address I quoted in the forums). One said that the window was being
opened so that the demons could enter and exit at will, and that the
portal could only be closed by her and a $100 fee. Another claimed
that Alfie had visited her one night and said that the father had
sacrificed him in a Satanic ritual, and now he was cursed to haunt
my house as a 'pity-demon' until the hex his father had put on him
was lifted. This too, of course, demanded a fee. All in all, about 4
psychics emailed me offering services for cash. All were emailed
back telling them that the site was fiction, which ultimately meant
they were fraudsters. I don't think any of them are still practicing
their deceptual arts.
I cannot apologise enough for you
believing me through faith. It was never my intention to hurt the
supernatural community. It was my intention to rid the world of
phoney phychics, giving the genuine people a bad name.
All I
can do now is ask for you to forgive me for what I have done. As I
said before, it wasn't intended as a hoax or fraud, but an
experiment to, in a way, help the spectre-loving people of Earth. I
have managed to unmask 4 people charging people for hauntings that
don't exist, which is 4 less than what there was at the start of
this.
Before I locse up this letter, there are a couple of
notes I would like to clear up...
*The haunting was entirely
my creation. I had read no books whatsoever to find genuine stories
to base this all on. I was shocked to hear that the 'Haunted
America' book contained a similar story with Alfie and the basement.
*The webcam I set up was indeed a still Jpeg image. It was a
photo taken in my grandmothers house. I had taken the photo as part
of a ghosthunt because her house is a real haunted house. The room
photographed is the most haunted room of the house where every night
the occupants could hear breathing, and the rustling of a dress. Now
the room lies dormant and empty. I do have a spectacular photo taken
in that room of two orbs that seem to be dancing around each other.
So that's my confession. I am truly apologetic to the people
who may be hurt by my actions, but please believe me when I say I
had your best intentions at heart.
Thank you for reading,
Haunted Diary.
PS.
Gennie - Well done for
finding that house. I never even knew it existed until you did your
research. | |
