I was sitting in the Ghost Chat room one night talking to folks when suddenly at about 2:40 AM I heard 3 very loud knocks coming from my bedroom door. Since my son had already been asleep in his bedroom for 2 hrs before that, I knew there was no way that sound could be from him! Then I heard very heavy slow footsteps coming from out of my bedroom into the bathroom. Of course I was frightened and tried to get my mind quickly off the sounds and thumps I just heard and continued chatting.
Then I heard them again: 3 loud knocks on my bedroom door and heavy foot thumps again into the bathroom. About now I was beginning to freak out!! A couple minutes later, there were 3 even louder knocks on my bedroom door. Suddenly I heard footsteps running down the steps from my son's bedroom. It was him who by now had heard the loud knocks and immediately ran to the front door. I yelled at him where are you going now?? It's 2:45 AM!!!! He said he heard loud knocks and heavy walking so he was going to run outside to see if anyone was trying to break in the house. Needless to say, I'm still frozen to my computer chair afraid to move not knowing what to expect next!
My son made the mad dash around the house, but no one was there. He came back inside and very emphatically said, "You and your ghosts!! That does it! I'm sleeping downstairs on the couch!!" Now if he didn't hear that and react as he did, I probably would have thought it was my imagination! However, when a big fearless 18 yr old says that to me, well, that did me in!
The next day when his friends came over to visit, he explained to them the story and said how he had to sleep on the sofa because his mother was soooo scared the night before from her hearing knocks on the door and heavy footsteps coming from her empty bedroom. They had some pretty big smiles when I told them exactly how it did go down.
